MLX Chat collects no data. Everything runs on your device.
Conversations, voice recordings, generated speech, and generated images are processed entirely on your device by open-weight AI models running locally. Nothing you type, say, or generate is transmitted to us or to any third party. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking of any kind.
The app uses the network for exactly one purpose: downloading AI model files you explicitly choose from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), a public model-hosting service. These downloads send no personal information beyond the standard technical details of any web request (such as your IP address, which is visible to any server you download from). After a model is downloaded, the corresponding feature works fully offline.
With your permission, the microphone records a short voice sample for on-device voice cloning, and hears you during voice calls with the AI. Speech is transcribed using Apple's speech recognition on your device. Recordings and transcripts stay on your device.
With your permission, images you generate can be saved to your photo library. The app has add-only access and never reads your existing photos.
Chats, voice samples, and downloaded models are stored only on your device. Deleting a chat, a model, or the app itself removes that data. We cannot delete it for you because we never had it.
The app is not directed at children. AI models can produce inaccurate or unexpected output; the App Store age rating reflects this.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
